A hike on the trails across from Van Riper State Park. From left to right, Kukka, Ilo, and pups Ilta and Kesa. It was Ilta's last day with us....... :-( before she went to her new home the next day.

We ran into Joan Young, avid hiker and author of "North Country Cache" a book about her adventures on the NCT. We were both checking out a section of the trail near Autrain.......
On our way to a trailhead of the NCT in the Sturgeon River Gorge area......Ilo doesn't want to miss ANY action.......
The view from Silver Mountain overlooking the Sturgeon River Gorge in early August '08....at one time the home of a silver mine, but no silver was ever found. Later a fire tower occupied the spot, but has since been torn down........
A mid-September hike at Bruno's Run, a beautiful 10 mile loop south of Munising, which includes 7 lakes and a beautiful stretch following the river.........
Mid-October and on our way back to the Sturgeon River Gorge area........a beautiful day with glorious fall color.
Taken from the trail..... it's very wooded in this area so couldn't get a good pic of the gorge, but still an awesome hike!
