Emergent Curriculum
"We do not remember days, we remember moments."
How children learn and develop
Seaforth Co-operative Children's Centre has adopted an emergent curriculum that enables young children to grow and learn based on their interests.  It is a play-based approach which follows the child's lead instead of rigid instruction from the teacher.  Qualified early childhood educators will observe children closely and provide opportunities to expand upon their learning.  All children have a portfolio with photos, documentation and examples.  Children are encouraged to embrace the natural world and toys are provided that encourage limitless possibilities instead of stifling creativity with only one use.  Educators closely follow the Ontario Early Learning Framework to document the developmental domains and skills the children demonstrate.  For children, play is learning.  We, as educators and parents, recognize the need for children to play and develop in a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment.  Call today to find out more about us!
