WHAT’S NEW

*On December 8, 2007 SCBB held it's annual Christmas Party.  Sheila and Mitch hosted the event in Crawfordville, FL for the SCBB members, their families as well as their guests.  Everyone had a wonderful time!  There was a round table meeting for the members that were present.  The subjects that were discussed were:

   .SCBB Board Members
   .Locations for Ghost Hunts
   .Investigation Equipment
   .Investigation Sites
   .Raising Funds

After the meeting was adjourned, the guests were provided with delicious Taco Soup and Potato Soup provided by Sheila, Mitch and Doree.  They also enjoyed a large selection of cake and cookies as well as other goodies!  The guest exchanged Christmas gifts and the big kids seemed to have more fun than the kids did..lol.  They then had a hayride that took them to a local cemetery so the families participate and could learn what ghost hunting is about.  When they arrived at their destination it was explained what the procedures were and then the kids were supervised as they began their hunt.  The kids were using digital cameras and they especially enjoyed taking pictures and being able to see the orbs in the photos immediately.  After the ghost hunt they returned to Sheila and Mitch's home and the tired guest gradually started leaving but everyone had a wonderful time.

Update on SCCB Hunts/Investigations

SCBB had a great turn out for our Andersonville, Ga. and Historic Windsor Hotel Hunt.  Margaret and Tom Hebert were our hosts and they did a great job.  We had the opportunity to visit the old town of Andersonville, where there was a small cemetery.  Almost everyone got some good photos from this location.  We also did a daytime photo shoot at the Prisoner of War Museum in Andersonville which was very educational.  Margaret and Tom took the group to a cemetery in Oglethorpe, Ga. and it was an awesome place.  We got lots of pictures and some interesting Temp. variations during the hunt.  I must mention that there was one grave in the cemetery that was the topic of discussion amoung the group.  For starters, it is a common practice that the deceased it always layed to rest facing the East.  This entire cemetery was layed out this way...except for this one grave.  This grave faced South!  Quit unusual!  I can't remember the story or the reasoning for this but it was very interesting when we heard it and if one of our members will be kind enough to refresh my memory on this I'll post it in the next newsletter.

Tom and Margaret also took the group for one of the most delicious meals that I think I've ever had.  We visited a Minnonite Restaurant and it was all home cooking.  Very good!  While there we visited their gift shop and bakery.  Some of us just couldn't resist!

SCBB presented Tom and Margaret with Certificates of Appreciation and presented them with a gift.

Thank You Tom and Margaret!!!

CLARIFICATION!

There is some confusion about our Ghost Hunters and our Investigation Team.  This is two entirely different groups.  Our Inv. Team members do participate in the ghost hunts but the ghost hunters do not participate in the investigations.  Let me explain.

Ghost Hunters:  a group of people that enjoy going to cemeteries to explore the paranormal.  We always put on our shield of protection and then we enter the cemetery and take pictures.  We may walk around and talk to the spirits to make them comfortable with our presence.  Ghost hunts are open hunts for all of our members and their guests.  We DO NOT permit anyone under 18 years of age to participate due to liability issues otherwise anyone is welcome to attend.  We do insist that respect for the deceased be shown at all times.  We may use our Themoscaners, EMF Detectors, Recorders or whatever we choose to use.  You never know when you may capture something.  This is the individuals choice.  When we depart the area we take the time to say Thank You to the spirits for allowing us to visit with them and then we will ask they they stay within the confins of the cemetery.

Investigators:  a select group of "Trained" paranormal investigators.  Upon request we may go to a private residence, or business.  We may decided as a group to go to an abandoned building such as a hospital, instituion or any historical location to research and collect data.  The purpose of this is to attempt to capture and prove the true existance of Paranormal Activity.  All equipment and radio contact will be set up with monitors being used etc. during these investigations.  This is considered a "Closed" investigation for team members only.

We do NOT want you to feel left out or neglected but under the circumstances it is important that the team stay small and be well trained.  When preforming investigations SCBB's reputation is at stake and we want to do the very best job for the individual that we can do.  We currently have 6 "active" team investigators.  When or if we have a vacancy on the team we will invite another member who has received Certification in all three courses and we feel that they are ready to be a team member.  This person is observed at our open hunts on numerous occasions before they are even considered.  This is the reason that we offer training to our members.  There are several classes that is offered by SCBB.

         Ghost Hunters 101
         Apprentice
         Journeyman

These classes are offered (NOT REQUIRED!) to all members BUT to be an investigator you will be required to obtain certification in ALL of these classes.  There are more advanced classes offered online so please take the time to look around for them.  There is always more to learn!

True Story

Graphic story about my ghost cat!

Submitted by:   MysticCookiez@aol.com

Beware this story has graphic descriptions.......About 2 years ago my drunken neighbors were having a beer bashing and shot and killed my beloved cat boots in the head, his brains covered the pavement. My dad took him, wrapped him in 6 layers of trash bags and drove an hour away from the house and buried him. About 3 months later my mom was asleep and she heard a cat meowing outside the window. She jumped out of bed and told my dad that sounds like Boots. He didn't believe her but she insisted he go look. Sure enough my dead cat was sitting on the window sill meowing. Where he was shot in the head was just a small bump. I had had bad nightmares that night and I was asleep with my grandmother in her bedroom when my mom came to wake me up. Right when I opened my eyes, I saw Boots sitting on the bed. I freaked out. I couldn't understand how he was there. He had nothing left in his head, it was scattered on the pavement. Anyone could tell he was dead, worse then road kill. But sure enough it was Boots. I was the only one he was nice to, he wouldn't let anyone close to me. He would protect me. Well he went on just as if he were alive, but one night about a month after he came back from the dead he just suddenly disappeared. To this day no one knows what happened to him or how he came back from the dead. But now our family is known for the ghost cat. Sometimes at night when I lay in bed I'll hear Boots meowing outside my window but when I go to let him in or open my curtains to see if it's really him he'll vanish. He may be a ghost but he's still my cat.

Editors Comments:

Well friends...it's that time of year again.  Buddy and I will be starting our travels the first of March.  We will be spending some time in North Georgia and then we are going north to New York.  After a visit with some friends in that area we will be going West to Wyoming.  There are some awesome ghost towns in the area and we hope to visit as many as possible!  Since I am the Web Master I will be posting any paranormal photos that we may capture!  We will be returning in late Fall but we will have our computer with us.  My email address is listed below so please feel free to contact me while we are on the road.  We will be in touch!
As Always…
HAPPY HUNTING!
Carol
