Slixpring Main Spring Converstion:

SliXpring:
These are the best light weight lever/lifter arm springs on the market. Don't confuse these with other wire springs that you've seen. These are made using a .075" diameter spring wire. The wire is attached to a steel block - in the middle of the block - to give a more positive, firmer feel to the action, not that "spongey" feel that you get with some other springs.
Slixpin:
Replaces the stock firing pin with the newly designed and alloyed firing pin and spring. The design incorporates an engineered radiused shoulder that all but eliminates those broken pins. The alloy is MIL-SPEC the same as the M-16 and aftermarket AR-15. Minor fitting may be required. The pins are designed a little long so they can be fitted properly to each individual rifle. Complete instructions included along with a new firing pin spring.
Stainless Followers & Mag Springs:
Will not rust in the tube like the stock followers or springs, and if you shoot black powder, this is what you should have. Springs will fit in barrels 24" or shorter. For shorter barrels insert spring and cut 3" above end of tube for correct tension.
New Coiled Safety Spring:
This spring replaces the flat safety spring for the disconnect (trigger block). The reduced tension allows the trigger to function as designed but gets rid of the annoying down pressure on the lever. Without the disconnect installed, the rifle can fire before the links are fully extended. Stay safe and leave the disconnect in the rifle.This is the same spring we use in all our 1873 action work. Easy installation.

to announce a newly designed “
SliXpring-Main
” replacement Mainspring system designed to complement an already properly tuned and short stroked Winchester style 1873 rifle or carbine. Its sole purpose is to provide a faster lock time (faster, more positive hammer travel), a more dependable primer strike and a more durable, longer lasting, smoother cycling competition grade spring operation. In most cases, it will feel a bit more brisk in the initial cocking action of your rifle, but be assured it will respond much more smoothly throughout the hammer cycle than a normal leaf style spring. Plus, it is at least 30% faster than your competitively adjusted leaf spring. The “
SliXpring-Main
” kit requires competent installation with minimal stock fitting and is completely reversible to your existing arrangement. Because there are so many different tolerances and dimensions between bolts, hammers, lower tangs, action frames and tune-up styles, the "Kit" itself is manufactured so the qualified installer/tuner can fairly easily fit and align the unit for optimum operation.it will not fit the earlier square bridge lower tangs and some Border Rifle tangs without tang modification. Also, since there are many different styles of shooting and needs for different levels of speed, the kit will include two axles. The basic axle will provide the fastest possible lock time and the most positive detonation while still retaining a smooth cycle. A smaller diameter axle is also included which will provide a noticeably faster lock time but with a slightly lighter, smoother lever cycle feel for the not yet absolutely competitive shooter. The manufacturers want to clearly point out that if you have little or no idea how this Spring kit is supposed to work, get help or find someone who does know how to install them. Due to all the variations in machining tolerances on the different rifles, this is
not
a “one-size-fits-all” perfect” drop-in set. It may/will take some individual fitting. Contact your local “Smith” to arrange installation.

Coil Main Spring Conversion
The Coil Main Spring Conversion consists of a strut assembly, coil main spring, and a mounting base. It replaces the stiff, flat main spring that comes in these rifles.

In the two pictures above, notice how the strut is free to move up and down on the hammer as the hammer rotates forward and back. This movement allows the hammer's leverage to adjust as needed when the spring is being compressed. The result is that the hammer pull is the same when the coil spring is compressed as when it is extended. This greatly reduces the "stacking" that is felt after installing a short stroke kit.
As the hammer is being forced forward during the firing stroke, the strut moves upward on the hammer, giving the leverage advantage to the spring. The result is that the spring is able to give the hammer a more forceful "slap" as it hits the firing pin extension, giving you a harder hit on the primer than a lightened flat spring can provide.
The ball bearings at both ends of the strut provide a smooth as silk feel to the cocking action of the rifle too.
Installation
Installation of the Coil Main Spring Conversion is simple. After removing the lower tang assembly from the rifle's receiver, remove the flat spring and hammer from the lower tang assembly. Remove the "T" strut from the hammer, polish the inner curve on the back of the hammer, and replace the hammer in the lower tang assembly. Install the Coil Main Spring Conversion in place of the flat spring, and re-install the lower tang assembly into the receiver.
Next, use a Dremil tool with a small sanding drum to remove enough wood from the bottom slot in the stock to allow sufficient clearance for the Coil Main Spring Conversion. That's it!

As the name suggests this target was devised and originally made in Texas USA.
The first one was orginally imported by the Majura Rangers of Canberra a few years ago at great expense.
It proved such a hit at other clubs, that the manufacturing rights were negotiated by SSW Distributors Pty Ltd., to be made in Australia.
