DARTMOUTH — With his endearing smile and big, brown eyes, it's no wonder that Presley was chosen to model for an upcoming Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue.
"It was just an absolutely incredible experience for all of us," said Louise Guy of South Dartmouth who accompanied Presley, along with fellow golden retrievers Bentley, Spencer, Trixie, Coco and Stella on location for a photo shoot at a posh Newport, R.I. estate.
"They were literally rubbing shoulders with fashion models from all over the world," said Ms. Guy of the photo shoot conducted by renowned photographer Bruce Weber for the Spring 2009 edition of Abercrombie's popular catalogue.
Ms. Guy is the owner of Stoneledge Goldens of South Dartmouth. Eight years ago she left behind a career in professional substance abuse counseling to pursue her dream of breeding and showing golden retrievers.
Presley is one of the nine goldens she currently cares for.
"They've been a big part of my life for a very long time," said Ms. Guy, who has owned golden retrievers since she was 13.
Ms. Guy became acquainted with Mr. Weber and his wife, Nan Bush, when the couple contacted her last spring looking for a golden puppy. She was able provide them with "Dream," a puppy sired by Stoneledge's Bentley, over the summer.
"They were a perfect match," said Ms. Guy of Dream and his new family.
While Ms. Guy is proud of her dog's modeling accomplishments, she is also quick to point out that they are a lot more than just pretty faces.
In fact, two of her dogs, Spencer and Bentley received ribbons in the recent Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty Show, held in Warwick, R.I. Shown by handler Greg McCarthy, eight year-old Spencer placed fourth in a class of eight to 10 year-old veteran dogs in his first AKC sponsored dog show, she said. Meanwhile, Bentley, just two months shy of his 11th birthday, placed fourth in a smaller class of veteran dogs 10 to 12 years of age.
"They are simply amazing animals," said Ms. Guy, surrounded by her goldens
We are are very excited that Bruce Weber & Nan Bush have added Bentley & Brandy's son handsome Mr. Green, now "Dream" Stoneledge Rabbles Just A Dream to their gorgeous family of Goldens. He will be having a wonderful life for himself. We are looking forward to seeing many more photos of him as he grows up.
We wish Nan & Bruce all the best with their newest pack member!!!!
