Five Triplecreek dogs packed up their food bowls and squeaky toys and headed east to the Golden Retriever Club of America's National Specialty hosted by Yankee Golden Retriever Club in Warwick, RI September 19-28, 2008. The weather was bright and sunny all the way til Friday when the requisite monsoon blew in. But a good time was had by all.
Motel 6 - They Left the Light On For Us
We all stayed at the Motel 6 on Jefferson Blvd. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a dog-friendly place to stay. HUGE rooms and TINY prices! Lots of grass for walking and only minutes from the Crowne Plaza where all the action took place. Two thumbs up to the housekeeping staff who thought nothing of dog hair on the carpet and food and water bowls in the bathroom.
We had a VERY busy week. Jazz, Dazzle and Brazen all ran Agility Monday and Tuesday. In between runs on Tuesday Jazz had to transform into a breed dog and I into a handler for Veteran Sweepstakes, then quick back to the Agility ring for another run!
Brazen takes a right turn on the dog walk!
Tuesday night Jazz and Dazzle participated in the Parade of Titleholders earning stunning blue and gold ribbons for their accomplishments.

Wednesday Jazz and Dazzle competed in Brace Obedience and placed 4th, and Brazen played Breed Dog in the Novice class. On Thursday Brazen was again a breed dog, this time in the Conformation Assessment, where all 3 evaluators gave him passing scores and he earned his Certificate of Conformation Assessment (CCA).
Poor Jack waited patiently all week for his turn, only to have to run his Rally course in the monsoon on Friday. With 80 dogs entered in the Novice B class, I had hoped that maybe we could be in the top 40. But once again Jack surprised me and showed there really is a brain in that big blond head. The little goofball scored a 99 (!) and was just out of the ribbons in 5th place!
Neither wind, nor rain, nor funny suits....
All 5 dogs gave blood samples for research, and many vendors lightened my wallet considerably. All in all a glorious way to spend a week!
