My diagnosing doctor told me these activities would help. I do all of the above, except exercise on a consistent basis, blaming the reason that I don't, on my pain and stiffness from fibromyalgia & arthritus. What a poor excuse, I hurt even when I don't exercise. Of course, I've made the New Year resolution to 'move' more...use my 2 mile walking DVD 5 days a week & to join water aerobics soon (a bit general on that one).

Ways to Relieve Stress:
1. Let it Go: don't dwell on things out of your control...forgive & forget.
2. Act Quickly: correct a situation, if you have the power, but do it quickly & put it behind you.
3. Exercise Regularly: it improves your physical state, helps relieve stress & creates endorphins that reduce anxiety.
4. Pursue Your Passions: having a strong sense of purpose can dramatically reduce stree and keeps your mind active as well.
5. Do Good Deeds: even simple ones, like helping someone cross the street, will enhance your mental well-being & may also bring an element of physical activity & benefits
6. Laugh Often: a good sense of humor promotes longevity and will help you be better equipped to handle stress. (you can buy a laugh tape...I have one)
7. Keep in Touch: maintaining close relationships is a great way to reduce stress, since people are social animals.
8. Occupy Your Mind: keeping your brain deeply engaged in an activity means you don't have time to swell on stressful situations.
